Social Media Recruiting Frenzy by Julie Burke

***Social Media Recruiting Frenzy by Julie Burke

I use Facebook mainly for connecting with my family, friends and students. But I'm aware of the fact that if you want to use it for building a brand around your business, you need to have a plan. That's the way I came to the Social Media guide by Julie Burke. And thanks to the recommendation of Bob Heilig :-)

Whether I agree or disagree with some of the things in this guide, I find it interesting. You can download it for free here. Below are my takeaways mixed with my view.

My takeaways:

  1. The sweetest idea for me - to use audio (Send a voice clip option on FB Messenger) to congratulate your friends on their birthday :-)

  2. You need to create curiosity around your company – “I created a TON of curiosity, which encouraged people to reach out to me and ask what I was doing” (Social Media Recruiting Frenzy by Julie Burke)

  3. Use the 12 x 6 x 2 rule – That’s what I think to start implementing the most. Because there should be variety in your posts. Not only to post pictures or quotes, for example, but to mix different content like asking questions, random fun posts, inspirational posts. I think this is true about your business page, too. You need to post in different formats - video, audio, picture, text format.

  4. What’s important – to post regularly – at least 3 times a day – between 7 am – 9 am and 8 pm – 10 pm

  5. The next step – Adding new friends every day! Creating relationships!

  6. Comment, like and use FB Messenger

Facebook is a social media – to support, encourage, inspire, build relationships. I think you should do all of these things without any vested interest. You have to do them simply because you are a good person. At least, that’s my reason. In that sense, I don’t agree that you have to view Facebook as your mini job and every day to spend time going through your newsfeed, commenting and liking.

Also, something important for me, I don’t go aimlessly through my newsfeed to like and comment. There is a lot of negativity coming out from my newsfeed, too. I don’t want to be a part of it. I even think this is dangerous. For me, you need to be selective. That’s why I have a list of friends and a list of groups and pages I visit.

In the health-conscious time we are living in, we pay so much attention to the food we eat, to physical exercises, going to the gym, but we fail to take care of our minds and souls.

I think you have to be mindful with what you feed your mind on a regular basis. You have to nurture your mind with positivity.
